Most of the time that I have had Geotiff troubles has to be with the header metadata format if the file is due to the version of the Geotiff code, one of the most rapid ways to fix it is using another program as Global Mapper, to change the version of the archive. I am used to using this program to pre-process a considerable amount of satellite data because you can perform many conversion processes there, even in a batch way.

I had the same issue with Landsat 8 Collection 2 Science Product, you can open these images using QGIS and SCP Plugin.

In SCP plugin, Go to Preprocessing --> Landsat and define the Tiff bands folder and the MTL file location, the plugin will then open the image for you.

for Landsat 9 products:

after changing the first line to (GROUP = L1_METADATA_FILE)

go to the line (SPACECRAFT_ID = "LANDSAT_9")

change 9 to 8 and save

I can overcome this problem. But when I use FLASH for atmosperic corection . There is a problem Flash dialogue box : input radiometric.dat "input file must be BIL of BIP type". How can I overcome this?

these rules did not work for landsat 7 ETM+ mtl.txt file

one way is to open each B1 to B7.tif and load separately into envi 5.6 and then spectral layer stack all of them into one file

no service pack had been wirtten by envi developers to work with landsat 7 opening and loading into envi 5.6 problems
