I will suggest this steps to follow in order to aim convergence using the XFEM implementation of Abaqus:

Edit step

• Increase maximum number of increments

• Decrease initial increment size

• Decrease minimum increment size

• Decrease maximum increment size

Modified general solutions controls

• Time incrementations settings for discontinuous analysis

• Increasing maximum number of cutbacks allowed for an increment

Modified damage tolerance

Damage stabilization

This last parameter, damage stabilization, can be critical and your results may depend of it. I hope that the exposed above may help. Good luck! =)

I am not sure what you are talking about, but I guess it is better to make sure that you do not have the localization and mesh dependency problem. If you do coding your own it might happen. You need to take care of that...

 @Elaheh Arjomand To be honest I solved this problem long time ago and I can recall what was the exact problem. but if you have convergence issue, in general you should decrease the minimum increment size in the incrementation, make sure that your mesh is alright. avoid large distortions and use compatible mesh for your different parts. although there is a chance that any other source makes this problem, if you couldn't solve this issue by this guide please send your file for us. I will give it a try.
