I want to simulate the laminated composite beam, which is made up of aluminium and one layer of magnetostrictive materials. I want to study/plot the fundamental frequencies and different modes.
I have done something similar in FemLab (COMSOL). I used the structural module. I just created the laminates of a dental scaler to get the modes.
I found that FemLab was very fussy about the placement of the laminates. With some separations they would solve and others wouldn't. It was trial and error and I could not see a pattern to it. However it is possible:
