I want to simulate a rough surface in Abaqus CAE by transferring nodes in the input file but I have problem in large number of nodes transferring. so I have following steps to pre-process:
first step is simulating surface roughness in MATLAB program by writing codes.
step two is sample model generating in Abaqus CAE.
step three is meshing the sample to the requirement value.
step four is how can I write MATLAB codes to transfer top surface nodes in large numbers nodes? Actually I want to write MATLAB codes to find top surface nodes of sample and then change them to requirement value.
How do you plan to define the roughness? I can think of these ways:
a) a pre-defined profile: you know your rough surface profile from a source such as the output of 3D confocal laser microscope or a surface profilometer
b) a known repeating pattern in 2D (e.g. sinusoidal profile, or triangular) or 3D (gaussian or pyramidal profiles) covering your surface
c) generating a random rough surface using a simple random number generator (your noise resembles a random 1D or 2D signal)
