I am doing a non-linear beam bending / forming analysis in Abaqus. I want to to get results for the stresses through the thickness direction, where the top fibre will be in tension and the bottom in compression. By default, Abaqus has the principle stresses in the 3 orthogonal directions, S11, S22 and S33, but I want a stress component through the thickness.

I believe I need a user-defined coorindate system to follow the beam bending through the non-linear deformation, at every single point in the model, but I am not sure how to do this.

The model I am using is a 2D section with plane-strain elements. The image is attached.

How can I show the correct through thickness stresses in my model? Showing top fibre in tension, bottom in compression, and the stress variation across the neutral axis.
