I am interested in searching the gene expression profile of a particular set of genes in a specific disease condition like atherosclerosis from NCBI GEO database. As I have almost no background in bioinformatics, is there any easy way to get the expression profile from GEO?

if you will find a Link Geo2R on your GEO accession number of interest, you could get the results very easily. You have to define the groups and a Limma comparison will give you the results of differentially regulated IDs.

You can visit NCBI, then select GEO profile option from NCBI Homepage pulldown menu, then type the condition of disease e.g. atherosclerosis into search textbox. A number of GEO profile entries concerned with your condition of disease retrieved on the browser, u can download GEO profile data on same resource.
with the help of accession number of your interest (gene) you can find it very easily.
