I first dissolved the PbI2 in concentrate HI solution. Then I dissolved the O-phenyledediamine organic moiety in EtOH (ethanol) solution. Then the solution of PbI2 in concentrate aqueous HI solution eas then addesd gradually to the organic ethanolic solution. After some days Single crystal are grown within the HI solution.
How can I remove HI from the single crystal ?
In vacuo during careful gradually heating but... If You want to perform an X-ray analysis may ba after HI fly off, single cristal may be destroyed, so maybe it better to do analysis with HI
I suggest to isolate the crystals by filtration though a glass filter. You could then place the sample in a desiccator filled with solid NaOH or KOH. This will certainly remove any residual HI.
