I would like to remove coating film layer adhesive on steel surface without erasing Zn plating beside this coating layer. How can I do this work efficiently?
I used to try DMSO solution but it not effective and took a long time.
Thickness of coating layer about 15 -20 micromet
Type of coating: epoxy or acrylate

If you want to totally remove the coating you have to know more information about the adhesive (to choose a theta solvent). If the coating is cured onto the steal removing will hardly be possible with organic solvents. Even if not you have to monitor if adhesive is still bound to the interlayer. Eventually you have to combine different cleaning procedures (mechanic, thermic and chemical).
Most thermoset polymers will be very difficult to remove by dissolution in a solvent, whereas thermoplastics will be far easier. If thermoplastic, petroleum ether is very efficient most of the time, but if thermoset, a thermal method will probably be better (although thermal expansion of Zn, much higher than that of steel, may deform the plating, so you should use it very carefully : test petroleum ether first).
