I have made media content 50 ng/mL of NGF (nerve growth factor). Can I make a stock at -20°C for few days? If it is possible, how long can I keep? Thank for any help.
When a growth factor is diluted, its stability decrease (is it 50ng/mL ?). You could freeze your solution but you need to limit freeze/thaw cycle. How many time you could keep it ? It is a complex question, few weeks, I think.
I used to add cell-culture grade BSA (0.1%) to all my ngf dilutions, aliquot the solution and store everything at -80. you can keep the aliquots at -20 for up to three months (never tried longer) withouth any issue, but each aliquot must be thawed once and then used; re-freezing is definitely not recommended.
