I am interested in modelling rainfall to infiltrate into a soil layers in the unit of mm/hr (or similar). I had a look at the ABAQUS manual and came across to the "Surface pore fluid" in loading module. The definition of this type of load is: an outward normal flow velocity across a surface. I thought to use a negative sign to have an inward flow velocity (similar to rainfall) However, I am not sure whether it is the right type of loading for rainfall simulation or not?

Any recommendation on this is highly appreciated.
