I have 2-D dynamic gas-solid reaction model, with variables( temperature, pressure, velocity) varying in radial and axial directions.
The fluid and solid phase are not in equilibrium and momentum balance is governed by Ergun's equation.
How can I model this problem ?
Can gProms or COMSOL be used or I need to discretize the PDE and solve it using MATLAB ?
The figure above is an example how a PDE is converted into the form gPROMS needs.
I guess your problom is how to solve the model, since you have had the model.
I think gPROMS could solve the model.
Actually, I remeber there is a attached reaction model example in the software install files, and the model's variables ( temperature, component fraction) vary in radial and axial directions. I cannot rember if it includes the momentum balance equation. If there is not, it is easy to add the momentume equation
You should read the Distributed-parameter-model section of gPROMS help document, and it is not hard to learn how to input your Distributed-parameter model equations.
Once you input the equations correctly, gPROMS can solve the model by itself.
In addition, sometimes you may need to refine the solver configuration. Usually only when the model scale is very large. The default configuration is OK for the most conponent-level model solution.
