I have synthesized some peptide based hydrogels and the nanofibers within hydrogels was characterized upto 5-10nm by TEM analysis. Can anybody suggest how to measure the surface charge of the nanofibers.
The measurement of surface charge on nanofibers was achieved by characterizing zeta potential of the nanofibers. Usually you can use a commercial zetasizer. Definitely it's tricky.
Thanks for answer! I have measured the zeta potential and found very consistent result in 3 measurement. Can anybody suggest that the effect of concentration on the zeta potential and what should the optimum concentration?
No simple answer, it depends on several factors; particle size, chemistry/surface charge of the particles, pH of the solution, voltage you apply. The conc. of the particle should be enough to be detectable by light scattering (higher conc. for smaller particles) while avoiding aggregation. The following info may be useful:
