I am very much curious to learn the impact of climate change on the psychological wellbeing or wellbeing of the person in general. Is there any standardized tools to find this out. How can I go forward with this quantitatively and qualitatively?
Dear Elsa, I guess a first step might be to decide on whether to look at a local or regional sample of persons or whether to take an India-wide sample. I'd definitely encourage you in combining a quantitative and qualitative approach (if your time and resources permit). For the former, surveys of different kinds may be practical, for the latter in-depth personal interviews. In order to narrow down the focus of your study, it might be helpful to confine yourself to one dimension of wellbeing, for instance - as you mention - psychological aspects. Hope this helps. Best, Julius
Dear Elsa, you might be interested in the "solastalgia" concept developed by Glenn Albrecht and colleagues in Australia, and since applied in several other contexts. It is a state of distress resulting from environmental changes. I attach a paper where we used the concept (and an index to measure it developed by Nick Higginbotham, a colleague of Albrecht's) in work on environmental distress we've done with Indigenous peoples in eastern Canada.
