I am trying to do a transient thermal analysis in ANSYS for few hours but it worked very slow, it took about 12 hours of calculations to do 1 hour transient simulation and a very large data capacity (about 150 GB) that is only for one hour solution. Is there any way to make the simulation faster and less data capacity? I tried to increase the stepping time to 1 minute but it did not accept more than 1 second? please help!!

You can control what is written in output file using OUTRES command. You can reduce data storage, saving just what you need.

I do not know if you are already doing this, but for transient simulations it is a good practice to adapt the time steps to the problem you are trying to solve. I mean, typically you need to use a smaller time step when you need to capture some short feature of your model ( a short laser pulse, a collision between two bodies etc...). After such events occurs, they "relax" and typically the solutions of the equations becomes smother, and thus you can use much longer timesteps without loosing accuracy. In that way, the discretization of your time can be as an example [0-10s]-> 0.1s & [10s-1000s]->10s & [1000s-10000s]->100s which results in 110 discrete points, while using a homogeneous time-step of 0.1s it results in 100000 discrete points... if it takes 1 second to evaluate each point you are saving 3 orders of magnitude in time ;).

First of all, the transient thermal analysis is very time-consuming. I have experience that one run lasts more than two days.
To reduce the computational time, here are some suggestions that may help you:
1 try a computer with better configuration if possible
2 try to reduce the element numbers in your model. but to do so a sensitivity analysis on element size is normally required. in general you can have smaller element in some key zone but coarser mesh in others
3 try to reduce the number of time steps (substeps). but in the accuracy point of view, more than 1 sec time increment is not recommended. I have used 0.1s in some cases. however you can also use different time increment in different period during the calculation.
