Hi,
I am currently working with the isolation of mucin-degradring bacteria and would like to use a mucin-containing growth medium. I have found many recipes of gastric hog mucin-containing medium used for liquid cultures. However, when I have added agar, the ingredients in the medium are separating and I am not able to make a homogenous agar media. Is there anyone that have experience with this and have any recommendations in how to make mucin-containing agar?

Also you can mix the media during you pour it in petri dish, so every time you pour one petri dish mix it by shaking the media bottle carefully and pour it again.

Hi, and thank you all so much for the papers. They were very helpful. I will try once more to make the medium given in the paper by Looft et al, and this time vortex the gastric hog mucin with a small amount of distilled water before adding it to the medium together with the rest of the ingredients.
