i am synthesizing an anti-cancer drug but i am expecting that my may also work as anti-diabetic drug. so to induce diabetes in cell lines what should i do, which cell lines i have to take to induce diabetes and how can i treat the cells with my drug to observe its anti-diabetic effect.

Diabetes is not a disease of any particular cell and resultant of several reasons. You can try in MIN6 pancreatic cells that have characteristics of glucose metabolism and insulin secretion. ALL THE BEST
A few years ago, there was a similar question. The answer was that there are several approaches for inducing type 2 diabetes. One is to use insulinoma cells. Numerous investigators used X-rays or viruses to induce insulinomas,or to produce immortal beta cell lines.. The other approach is to grow pancreatic beta cells in a medium that contains high glucose and high insulin or a medium with high glucose and/or high lipid . Under these conditions the cells will become resistant to insulin. That is an essential requirement for T2D.
To induce diabetes in cells, you need to use glucose. But one of the pre experiment you might need to do is to use CCK-8 or MTT method to detect the concentration of the glucose that would induce the hyperglycemic condition with the knowledge of the characteristics of that cell line under hyperglycemic condition . What I mean is that you need to know the characteristic marker of the cells under the hypeglycemic condition. MTT or CCK-8 assay will rescue you from that dilemma. These methods have the potential to expose the concentrations of glucose that is safe for the cells and at the same time induce hyperglycemia OR you can follow literature if that aspect of your research have been published by other researcher.
