i grew penicillium spp. on rice seeds by spraying spore suspension, but it did not seem to grow after 3 days incubation at 30 oC. meanwhile, the naturally contaminated fungi, presumably aspergillus spp. grew well ( i see black fungi on the seeds). Does anyone know how i could grow Penicillium spp. on rice seeds?

Penicillium spp. are usually able to colonize very diverse substrates, but the species you are working on probably did not grow because:
i) the temperature of incubation was to high for them, or
ii) the natural mycobiota on the rice seeds was simply better adapted or much more abundant than the Penicillium inoculum that you used. Also consider that probably the mycobiota had the ability to release metabolites which are antagonistic to other fungi, incuding Penicillium.
An advice: sterilize the rice seeds by autoclaving them before you inoculate the Penicillium spp., and try a lower temperature, e.g. 20-25 C. Keep them in an atmosphere with sufficient humidity (a moist chamber, for example). Under these conditions common Penicillium spp. should grow well.

Hi: If you grow Penecillium on height humidity and allot of water in rice seed, it will grow slowly, be sure you give it the right moisture to the seeds.
Normally, it need to increase by approx. 12-14 days (also temp. 20-25 C, relative humidity over 17%); Indeed, very good Hugo Madrid advice.
