I am performing an Abaqus FSI co-simulation. Basically I have a structural model and a CFD model which is a canal with fluid flow in it. I am rotating the structural model and seeing the influence on the fluid flow in CFD model.
The inlet fluid velocity in CFD model is given in Y direction. When there is no rotation the flow of the fluid through the canal is as expected. But when the rotation starts, the inlet velocity vector does not flow in the expected Y direction and hence the oil flow is the canal (velocity field) is affected. it might be an issue of coordinate system, but I am not able to give a cylindrical coordinate system to the Inlet boundary condtion as it acceps only rectangular one.
Any tip on how to give constant Fluid inlet boundary condition on one particular axis (Y) will be helpful. Thank you.

There is tutorial of reference frame in ANSYS FLUENT with respect to the rotating machinery,I think ur issue with respect to cylindrical coordinate system can be solve and constant Fluid inlet boundary condition also

I would like to apply the same in Abaqus but I do not have such options here such as to give constant angular velocity to the Fluid inlet boundary. That is why I think an analytical equation should be written which says that the velocity coordinate remains the same during rotation. Any tip on this will be helpful. Thank you.
This is not a simple problem. In general such problems can be solved for a non inertial frame of reference attached to the rotaning machinery, possibly using cylindrical coordinates. This would require a modification of the standard Navier-Stokes equation to account for centrifugal and Coriolis forces (inertial/fictitious forces) perceived only by non inertial observers. For such observers the rotation desapears since they rotate together with the machinery. However two new forces (centrifugal and Coriolis) come into play in addition to pressure and viscous forces (gravitational forces are most probably negligible in this case). Also check for the existence of fluid convective accelerations inside machinery passages (variable cross section área).
