i am working on acid derivatives graphene (water soluble graphene) and i faced with same problem...

because i am working on inorganic acids substituted graphene, i used thermal treatment Instead of final rinsing step,

however phosphate and sulfate are stable during thermal treatment but this method is not preferred for organic moieties derived graphene and graphene oxide derived materials...

because during thermal treatment most of the oxygen functionality and organic moieties are removed as same as most of Impurities ...

if you want to try thermal treatment, its better evaluate critical temperature by TGA.

What is the average size of your GO nanosheets? Do you mean sGO nanosheets were still in supernant even you Applied 13000 rpm centrifugation? That should not happen, if your GO nanosheets are in the size range of 1-5 um. You should check their sizes by AFM.

I didnt measure the size of the GO particles, I ordered GO as sheets then I milled them in a ball milling machine... I think that they are in the size of nanoparticles.

Thanks for your further infomation. How strong is your milling machine? It seems that your GO nanosheets could have become GO quantum dots (nanometer sizes, 5-20 nm). You had better check them by AFM as well as fluorescent spectroscopy. Normally, it is quite easy to cetrifugate GO nanosheets to condense them (say at 8000-10000 rpm), if their sizes are in the range of 0.5-10 um. Attached please find 3 articles from our Group.
