I am interested in checking whether genes involved in metabolism are regulated upon treating human cells with a certain drug. However, I cannot find a comprehensive list of these genes that encode metabolic enzymes. Any idea how I can get such a list?
what exactly you want to check regarding which drug and studying for what aspect say related to cholesterol metabolism ,glucose metabolism as there must be a purpose as there are umpteen genes involved in human metabolic pathwaysfor different organs as well so what is the aim of trying the drug that you want to study-an example yo can try studying cholesterol metasbolism and VARIOUS other liogenic genes as well as fatti acid netabolism genes in liver with final control with SREBP with master regulators while Liver X receptors and farsenoid receptors having separate roles while in adipose tissue for differentiation u need PPAR gamma.C/ebp WINGLESS .beta catenin pathway etc AND FINAL CONTROL OF lipogenesis in adipocytes by BRcA1 ratrher than SREBP12 in liver which controls all enzymes like Acetyl coenzyme carboxylase ,FATTY ACID SYNTHASE,then role of mTORCX1 for protein synthesis pathwaysand you can download from any good article but firstly for what you need as then there are micro RNAs controlling AND LOT OF OTHER PATHWAYS SDO TO STUDY A DRUG you first have to define what exactly you want to study the metabolism for and is it a therapeutic angle or what.

There is a huge number of genes,related with proteins and enzymes in lipoprotein metabolism. You must study only the regulation of your group of molecules involved in your objective-problem It Is a long way but a very long list is useless. Your work will be useful when you are sure that each step is the first one and you can go to the second step.
I would suggest to go for the reverse problem - find genes being up- or down regulated by your drug and then perform their functional analysis using for example gene ontology domain (www.geneontology.org) or KEGG signalling pathways. Modifications of hypergeometric test to verify the hypothesis on overrepresentation of particular GO term should do the job. And then look at what you get.
