Your question is not defined enough. Ester oil may vary in composition, you would need chemical formula. Partition coefficient is related to partition between 2 phases. You may find partition coefficients between octanol-water, which is given in environmental data bases.

Dear Cedric, I think you have misunderstood the question. The question was not about the partition function (a statistical mechanical parameter). Further the question is somewhat unclear. Partition coefficient is the ratio of the solubility of a substance in two immiscible phases in equilibrium. I think Natarajan wants to know the partition coefficient of the stated substances separately. For this purpose he must have to perform some experiments to determine the solubility of the stated material in phases of interest.

Hi all, Sorry for the confusion. As mentioned in my question, I do not have any idea about the partition coefficient and suspected that the information I have given is not enough.

Regarding the "Dodecylbenzene", some information about the partition coefficient is waht I needed.

As Syed corectly pointed out,  the ratio is the solubility of a substance in two immiscible phases (can also be liquid and solid).  I am looking at this from an Electrical Engineer's perspective. Some power cables use "Dodecylbenzene" as insulating liquid and I was interested in the partition coefficient as one of the properties that we needed to evaluate the "strength" of the insulation.

Regarding Esters, I know that there are many different types. If anyone can show me an example of an Ester(type and usage does not matter) and the partition coefficient value for that particular Ester , I can use it as a guideline for further study/research on this subject.
