First of all remove the Debris after homogenization. Simply follow the Phenol - choloroform method of DNA extraction and then treat it with RNASe or calcium chloride to remove the RNA.  

you can check some papers, for example, we use TPS buffer to extract Arabidopsis and rice DNA for genotyping, but not for cloning.

Doyle and Doyle, DNA extraction, is a excellent way! 

The rapid method of DNA extraction will yield less purity DNA, however, the following link may be useful for you.

The protocol for QuickExtract™ DNA Extraction Solution seems very simple. But, it seems to aim for animal cell (such as human, which have no cell walls) gDNA isolaltion. When you used it for maize gDNA isolation, did you have to grind up the tissue in the liquid nitrogen first?

I have my own version of 'quick gDNA isolation' solution. If you are interested, please let me know. I used it to quickly isolate a lot of tobacco leaf samples (gDNA) for PCR purpose , using a eppendorf tube and a pellet pestle for grinding (see below pictures). You can grind tissue with hands or with a motor (in picture). Grinding with hands can make your fingers sore later. Motor-driven grinding is a better choice. I personally like it.

Protocol for QuickExtract™ Plant DNA Extraction Solution

A quick and easy way to extract DNA for genotyping is to use Shorty buffer:

0.2 M TRIS/HCl pH 9.0

0.4 M LiCl

25 mM EDTA pH 8.

1% SDS

Grind your sample thoroughly over liquid nitrogen and add 500μl of the shorty buffer and keep grinding until the sample is fully homogenized.

Centrifuge the sample for 10 minutes at full speed (around 13000RPM) to pellet the cellular debris.

Take 350μl of the supernatant (being careful to avoid the pellet) and add to 350μl of isopropanol. The volumes can be adjusted to suit you but always add the same amount of isopropanol as you add supernatant.

Centrifuge for 10 minutes at full speed and discard the supernatant. 

Wash the pellet in 70% ethanol and then leave tube upside-down on tissue paper to dry - the pellet must be dry or it inhibits the re-suspension of the DNA

Resuspend the DNA in 200μl of TE buffer (10mM Tris/HCl pH7,6; 1mM EDTA) place in the fridge overnight and then the following day flick the tube and then you can use the DNA. 

The technique is good for genotyping applications but is quick and crude, if you need pure DNA you will have to clean the extract up on a column. 

·         Use from 0.01 - 0.1 gram plant material. Transfer the ground tissue to a eppendorf tube. 

·         Add 300ul extraction buffer (100 mM Tris-HCl pH 8.0, 50 mM EDTA pH 8.0, 500 mM NaCl, + 0.07 % 2-mercaptoethanol). Grind well. 20-25 frequency/s 3min.

·         Add 35 ul 10% SDS, invert / shake the tube a few times. Incubate at 65 ℃ for 15 min.

·         Add 75 ul 5M potassium acetate(KAc). Mix well. Keep the solution on ice for 5 min (precipitation of proteins).  

·         Spin down the precipitations at 13000 rpm, 10 min. Transfer 300 ul of the supernatant  to a new eppendorf tube.

·         Add 30ul  3M NaAC, 300ul Isopropanol to the supernatant, Mix well and incubate at -20℃. for 20 min. 

·         Centrifuge at 13000 rpm for 10 min to pellet the DNA.

·         Add  400 ul  70% or 75% Ethanol to wash the DNA pellet. 

·         Centrifuge at 13000 rpm for 1 min to pellet the DNA.

·         Resuspend the DNA pellet in 50 μl of EB（Elution buffer不是Extraction buffer）(10 mM Tris-HCl pH 8.0) buffer.

·         50ml  extraction buffer：

·         5M  Tris-HCl pH 8.0       5ml

·         50mM  EDTA pH 8.0      5ml

·         5M NaCl                          5ml

·         Add ddH2O to                  50ml

·         2-mercaptoethanol           35ul

You can use the Zymo kit for DNA extraction, it comes with the protocol. It is is quick. The yield is usually low (50 to 100 micro-litres) but sufficient to carry out any kind of experiments you may wish to carry out.

Plant DNAzol, best for routine, rapid isolation.   

Plant genomic DNA kit (Biomed DL114-01) following the CTAB protocol (Saghai-Maroof et al., 1984; Liu et al., 2012). DNA extracts can be quantified using a Nanodrop 2000.
