How can I extract nanowires for instance of ZnO or silicon from a quartz substrate and mix them in a solution for biological applications. As the nanowires are very fragile neither want to destroy their morphology nor want the agglomeration in the resulting solution.

Method is given in attached article. It is Ag-assisted ammonia etching method. Ag plays a key role to the neat and uniform release of Si/SiOx nanowire arrays from Si wafer in the ammonia etching process.
In general,you need to dissolve the substrate without atactt the nanowires, i.e. you just need to know the suitable solving solution. First, it is recommended to choose thin substrate as much as possible, then choosing dissolving solution is not difficult matter. I think suitable concentration of HF can be used for SiO2 substrate (quartz), a small amount of other acids can be tried.
You must dissolve your substrate which is the most common approach.
