I tried extracting DNA from yeast cells but the sample couldn't show bands on the gel. Can anyone suggest a best protocol to isolate DNA from yeast?
HI, there are a lot of kits for DNA extraction from yeast cells. Ask the companies for free samples.

Hi there,
For what purpose do you need this DNA? If it's just to use it as a template for PCR, you don't need a lot.
Hi, i can recommend this page for all kind of methods working with yeast. For standard protocols you should follow the first two links on the page. http://wiki.yeastgenome.org/index.php/Methods
Have fun!
If you are just doing endpoint PCR you can heat the cells in 0.02 M NaOH for 10 minutes.
For qPCR we wash with water, treat with zymolyase, then incubate at 95 C for 5 minutes to lyse. The lysates go directly into the qPCR mastermix.
Thank you ... I ll give it a try
Do use a specific kit. Is the best and easy.
