I have created a 10 item questionnaire to measure job performance : 3 factors task performance, compliance and altruism. I have adopted questions from 3 different questionnaires to create a new 10 item questionnaire. Then I did EFA to basically show that each of the items load on the originally set factors. But how can I explain it in more scientific way?
You can say that you created a "composite" scale by combining items from the three original sources.
The main thing that would concern me is whether the items were all worded and scored consistently in the new format. If, instead, they retained distinctive elements of their source formats, that could be the basis for their pattern of correlation.
To be honest I think you have actually explained it very well. You don't need to make things sound more complicated than they need to be. Some of the best scientific writing is often the most simple. Just add some important details (e.g. what were the original questionnaires, response formats, what changes did you make etc) and keep it simple!
