How can I estimate wall shear stress using Clauser chart method as friction velocity is not constant and varies with y. I have experimental field velocity measurements.
The friction velocity does not vary with y, which I assume is your wall-normal coordinate. The friction velocity is defined as: v* = tau_w / rho_w and depends only on the wall variables.
The Clauser plot can indeed be used to determine the wall shear stress. You can plot your boundary layer profile in a semi-log plot (y+ on the x-axis and u / v* on the y-axis) and then fit the 'law of the wall' to your data. From this fitting procedure your v* will follow. Check: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_the_wall for a description of the law of the wall.
Please bare in mind that the Clauser method only works when you are resolving the log-region of your boundary layer.
