I'm working on breast cancer surgery, and I'm going to estimate wound healing process time in different groups after breast cancer surgery. Here I want to know the parameters that are required to estimate the time. Based on which parameters we can able to confirm the healing time as delayed.
I am running a study on incision closure currently with a new dressing.
We are following several parameters
We are following drainage, temperature, periwound tissue markers and pain
At 4 weeks if not sealed and no drainage it is delayed per wound care standards

Wound healing time assessment depends on evaluation of the different stages of healing (inflammation, ..., ......., ...., remodling) as each stage has standard period so evaluation of healing between different groups can be achieved by:
Clinical Observations (Temperature, pain,....)
Inflammatory markers
gross observation (swelling, hotness, .....)
microscopic evaluation, if applicable, is very important for detection of different healing stages

thanks Wolfgang Doerr for your suggestion. Yes, we need to do a pilot study, but before that we need to get to know and fix some common contributing factors.
It all depends on the operation on the breast that was performed: mastectomy, sectoral resection, lumpectomy.
Healing criteria:
no lymphorrhea 12 days after matectomy
no reddening of the wound after 7 days
no pain
no hole between healed skin and chest wall after lumpectomy
no temperature on time after 7 days
