Average adult lung mass is ~1 kg.  However, only a shallow portion of respiratory tissues (up to 70μm depth) are exposed to alpha particle radiation from inhaled radionuclides.  Perhaps you can help me estimate the percentage of exposed epithelial tissue & other membrane components compared to total lung mass.  Perhaps someone has estimated percentages of the many tissue types such as respiratory epithelium, pleural epithelium, cartilage, smooth muscle, sheets of dense collagen (basement), loose collagen (lamina propria), blood vessels, etc.  Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
