How can I distinguish the colony of the bacteria which can and can not form the spores? Is it based on the present of the spot at the central of the colony?
Besides, I also wonder how we can know that is a colony of a movabal bacterium or not?
Spore formation of bacteria may be a genetic characteristics or a survival strategy. It is common nature of bacteria in adverse condition; may be food, water or temperature. If you put your bacteria in the adverse condition such as lack of some nutrient in the medium, water is drying or fluctuations of temperature you may find sporulation immediately.
Under sterilized environment, I think you may not find colony of any movable bacteria in your plates.
