Spectrophotometrically derived pigment concentrations for available EPA standards agree reasonably well (+/- 20 % ) and results are corrected for the presence of pheopigments. But significant amounts of chlorophyll derivatives are present, pigment concentrations determined spectrophotometrically will be overestimated. Hence Chromatographic method is useful for easy solving the purpose.
