i am working on Biosensor applications using plasmonic non linear MZI.
During the simulation i am finding the difficulty in two things:
(1) like if i m designing MIM based non linear MZI, "here i am unable to assign the wafer material which should be a metal" , when i tried to assign the material as metal then the modes are not calculated also
(2) " how to launch light at individual Ports like port 1 and port 2 separately as in directional couplers." because here in FDTD under sources---> input plane1.. no such option i could find out.
can anyone please suggest me how to carry out the simulations in opti FDTD, since i am new to this and had been using COMSOL before.

I have been also working with COMSOL for a long time. That's good you have an experience in COMSOL , as far as I know Lumerical is also well software in FDTD. I am suggesting this software because you are familiar with COMSOL

No, I only tried to simulate Fabry Perot interferometery . This is a common simulation in COMSOL's library.

COMSOL is a commercial and powerful software for simulating of plasminic based devices but its challenge is the correct understanding of the physics of problem such as plasmonic and mzi functionality. for overcoming this problem, you should regenerate a paper about sensor that simulate with comsol.
