I created a map based on the interviews that I have done. The map includes the location of participants and the places where they socialise with neighbours. I need to create a Spider Diagram that connects each participant to the places that he/she goes to socialise.

Here are the ArcGIS instructions (Desire lines), you need Business Analyst. They are called desire lines. Here is a tool to do it. without Business Analysts. I would advise free QGIS to do this. Here is the documentation for QGIS.

Actually, I have already created the map in ArcMap, Can I transfer that to QGIS? I have not used QGIS before and have no idea how it works.

It works much like ArcGIS. You can add all your vector and raster layers.
I use "Hawth's analysis tools" for tabular spider diagram, without creating the polylines. It's a free extension for ArcGIS. Latest versions might go under a different name, but it makes no difference.
