I have written a simple plane stress code in the VUMAT format but unfortunately the third strain (StrainInc(k,3)) is zero and I need to calculate it by myself. the problem is that, by the Von-mises constitutive equations, how can I calculate the thickness strain in the increment?
If you have done it before, just give me a reference where ı can find a suitable formula for that.

I suppose that is during plasticity,to calculate the thickness strain you have to use the incompressible hypothesis by considering the trace of strain tensor equal to zero (sum of the three terms of the diagonal of the strain tensor), then you can have the thickness.
if it's elasticity then just consider Poisson ratio's.
