I am doing a regression based association study to find the association between SNPs in candidate genes and QTL of the eye.
The power of the study has to be calculated wherein the total variance as contributed by the particular rsid is needed for in the calculation.
Can anybody explain how to go about calculating the same.

Why do you need power to be calculated? This seems to make little sense if you already have the data! Just go ahead with your regression based association analysis with the data you have. Normally we need to do a power analysis BEFORE conducting a study to ensure that the study has enough power (normally 0.80 or above) to detect the intended effect or relationship (here association). Or am I missing something?
