How can I calculate the gene expression based on RPKM method?

Runs: 1 run, 23.6M spots, 4.7G bases, 2.8Gb

Run # of Spots # of Bases Size

SRR3156560 23,576,012 4.7G 2.8Gb

From the above mentioned data should I use #of Spots or #of Bases for total mapped reads in the sample for Read Per Million value eg. total mapped reads in the sample devide by 1000000. Please suggest.
