Santiago has already given the appropriate and good answer to such question!! In addition, BSP analysis (Bayesian Skyline plots, implemented in the software BEAST) would also give the same result if you know beforehand the mutation rate for the examined marker. The analysis allow also retrieving more explicit results such as the existence of bottlenecks and the approximate time of their occurrence.
t= tau/ 2u and i get mutation rate %2 per myr and assume generation time 2 years and my sequence length is 500;
t (generations)= tau/ 2*2*10-6*500 is it correct? tau is given by the mismatch analysis and when i get the "t" i should multiply with my generation time?
