I ran an experiment to observe differences in risky decision-making between food and monetary rewards. For the group of participants assigned to the food rewards group, I asked them how hungry they were at the time of the experiment with an 11-point scale. Now, I have to analyse the data, but I am following the assumption of an unpublished paper from a student from my university where they categorised the data into three factorial levels: not hungry (0-4), neutral (5), and hungry (6 to 10).

Is there a better way to analyse this data to observe if this variable had any effect on the proportion of risky choices made by the participants?
