GeoGebra software began as an example of "dynamic geometry" software (DGS) that has been available since the mid 1990s. As such, various DGS have been widely researched. An example of a systematic review and meta-analysis that analyses the impact found by studies of DGS use published up to 2014 is:

As I concluded in my own review of DGS some years ago, "Overall, existing research indicates that DGS cannot provide a self-contained environment and that the software itself does not necessarily mean that students will learn geometry theory. Research also suggests that it can take quite a long time for the benefits of using DGS to emerge but that this investment is worthwhile in developing students’ knowledge of geometry. More recently, various forms of DGS, including GeoGebra, have expanded capabilities, including algebra and statistics. These capabilities are, to my knowledge, less researched than the geometry capabilities.

GeoGebra is an integrated mathematics learning and development environment, not just a dynamic geometry system. In particular, it facilitates the interaction between visual and algebraic representations of the same concepts. Someone who has researched extensively the use of technologies in this field is David Tall.

Personally, I have investigated the viability of using GeoGebra in the context of educational robotics. One downside to the software is that it is rather unfamiliar to the net generation.

My colleague Lenni Haapasalo has conducted research using integrated hand held calculators with a similar capability to GeoGebra (Casio ClassPad) and found them very effective and motivational.

You can search and find so many research and articles about the benefit of using GeoGebra in mathematics education. Digital technologies (Computer algebra system and dynamic geometry system) have some characteristics which pen and paper environment does not have. Therefore, these technologies based on the goals of teachers and students can be applied in mathematics teaching and learning process. The most common application of technology in mathematics education is visualization of mathematics concepts.

i have used very old technology in my new position with prere service students in math classes - TI 83

i don’t know much about but I knew I had to update myself.

I spoke with a colleague, former high school teacher and now consultant who uses tech extensively and for a long time. He advised me that geogebra is already old tech and he recommended products from Desmos. I’ll return to San Francisco soon where they are located and hope to go to their offices and speak directly after first doing some research. Desmos is cutting edge.

One of the good programs that proved effective in teaching mathematics, and there was a master's thesis that I discussed at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman on the use of this program in mathematics education.
