I am working with two algal species, but both of the cultures are getting contaminated by each other. The species being used are scenedesmus and chlorella.
Upto my knowledge !!! Chlorella is the most dominant culture than scenedesmus !!! Try for agar plates and streak the cultures in it !! From that take a colony and go for serial dilution and go for microscopic image that particular serial diluted culture !!! I hope that might work!!
In addition to Abinandan's remember that scenedesmus is filamentous while chlorella is ovoid, so you may filter through whatman and retain scenedesmus. I hope you are not talking about your picture, though!!!!
Prepare suitable growth media like ( BG-11) then make agar plates and streak the cultures (150-200 microlitre) in it. After 4 days pick a colony carefully (under microscope) and go for serial dilution. Also maintain light period for 12 hours.
