0= healthy, 1& 2= gingivitis, 3&4 Periodontitis. Is it correct?
I have seen conflict among clinicians who suggest 0,1,2 as healthy and the reason behind it is that normal pocket depth is 1-3mm. According to British society of Periodontology 0, 1, 2 is classified as pocket less than 3.5mm.
What is your opinion on this?
Well follow the BPE Scoring guidelines by British Society of Periodontology. Quick and authentic. If increased pocket depths are encountered, then you can do it individually.

I think the basic periodontal examination must register bleeding on probing , periodontal attachment loss and probing depth. The position paper of diagnostic of AAP and FEP considerate the same. Probing depth >3 i think
Follow the basic periodontal screening and recording either manually or electronically by using necessary software.use three criteria : Bop,pocket depth and clinical attachment loss.upto 3 mm is sulcus depth and not pocket depth.
One more thing i have noticed.. Normally periodontitis is diagnosed when there is a bone loss.. However, if any one is following case definition of Eke et al 2012, it says mild periodontitis is classified as little or no bone loss. So if there is a definite bone loss in Periodontitis then i think this classification need changes.
Classifications are just guidelines for communication between clinicians across the world. I don't think any one classification can by 100% satisfying. Based on the clinical condition one must apply relevant classification (if one knows the pros and cons of different classifications). Ultimate treatment will depend upon many different local factors.
