For most of us, peer review publications tend to legitimize and popularize your research. Peer review publications also affect many of our opportunities for advancement, grants, promotions, etc. But, how accurate are they? Are they actually fair or trapped in politics, personal issues, competition and more politics? In fact, many intimate that the peer review process enables others to appropriate your ideas and conclusions - a form of theft or plagiarism; or, to enable them to diminish your work and bury it under the carpet. Although I`m still beginner in the road of publication , but the answer from my experience is :
This depends on the scientific journal system, which has credibility through the reviewer who asking the researcher for some questions during the preparation for publication ... Selection of the magazine also be based on Impact Factor or journal impact factor of an academic journal is a scientometric index that reflects the yearly average number of citations that recent articles published in a given journal received. It is frequently used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field; journals with higher impact factors are often deemed to be more important than those with lower ones.
Peer review is always a unbiased way of review.
I do not think that, these reviewers copy your work. May not be. I have never faced such situation.
Next is you can ask the writers to suggest 3 reviewers and use them.
Impact factor journals may think of these. I am not sure.

Academic publishing is central to the additive development of scientific knowledge. The “review” component is for defects identification (Are the results Valid and Reliable?) with a scientific research in its origin phase. Thus, a review is a quality control mechanism built in scientific publishing and rests on the evaluation of independent body with topic expertise other than the author (originator). Obviously, this has enormous benefits. For example, it permits a mid-course correction of errors that can be fatal in their consequences in certain fields (medicine for example). Now, “peer review” is essential as it enables a community of experts in a field to advance it.
Is the peer review process fair? I believe it is fair. It is performed by impartial well-trained personnel (expert community) whose interest is to uphold scientific and ethical standards that are clearly-defined. Consider the guidelines of The Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE); these resources are to ensure rigor in the quality control process of peer review.
Is the peer review process “always” fair? Like any other human institution, there are reports of misconducts on the part of authors, reviewers, editors etc. that suggest the process is not “always” fair.
By what margin of error? It depends on who (stakeholder perspective) you ask and what elements of the process are under consideration.
In all, there is still room for improvement and we can improve the process by discussing specific issues and addressing them, one at a time.
