Segmentation fault occur when you try to access memory that is not available for you. It could be practically everything and in general case needs a lot of debugging. There are a few things you can start with though.
As Alexander mentioned, this most commonly indicates a memory access violation, either in your code or one of the libraries you are using. Compile with debugging symbols turned on (add -g to your CFLAGS) and debug using gdb (or a graphical front end) - you may also find Valgrind a very helpful tool for tracking down the problem.
