However that is all it says, so I was wondering if the agar is Lb agar and how much I should put in a 24-well plate, taking into account that I need to take confocal images of the cells later.
Try to prepare thinnest layer. f.e. by pipeting apropriate volume (to coat well bottom) 1% agar solution under constant temperature and removing residues after all surface will be wet. The inclined plane during gelling will help to collect excess in corner(edge) of the well.
As option calculate minimum volume from well area and acceptable thickness of agar layer for CM, add this volume to wells of preheated plates, close with lid and spread by centrifugation of plates in bucket-rotor.
Keep in mind that all operation should be done under non-gelling temperature!
