Dear Colleagues,
I am new to genes and genotyping and I need help. I am trying to figure our how AA, AG, and GG genotypes map on to A1 for DRD2/ANKK1 Taq1A polymorphism(rs1800497) and Val or MET for COMT Val158Metpolymorphism (rs4680). Where can I find this information presented in a way that a gene-naïve person will understand?

Hi Monika,
For me ensembl.org is the easiest. For example COMT
1. you search for the human gene
2. Open the gene file:
http://www.ensembl.org/Homo_sapiens/Gene/Summary?db=core;g=ENSG00000093010;r=22:19941371-19969975
3. Select one of the longest and best annotated transcripts
4. Select cDNA in the left panel
If you don't see the SNPs go to Configure the Page and select Variants. If you prefer, you can visualize the SNPs as well in the gene view.

Thank you for your answer. How do I know which transcript is the longest and best annotated? Sorry, I am completely new to this and I do not know what to look for.
I have genotyping human subject data for both rs1800497 and rs4680 presented as AA, AG or AG but I need to figure out how to translate it into A1 or Val or MET. Will the SNP information tell me that?
