In our experience, spin column based nucleic acid purification kits (DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kit, RNeasy Mini Kit and QIAamp cador Pathogen Mini Kit from Qiagen) are more efficient than others.

RNA virus: Genesee Scientific: Zymo research, Direct-zol RNA MiniPrep Lit or Roche: High Pure RNA isolation kit
