I have conducted several Biographical Narrative Interviews to explore participants' sense of belonging through the analysis of their life stories. So I have a pre-formulated 'theory' or research question, which I seek to answer through the data. How would you go about this? Many thanks!

If you have an initial theoretical framework, then one analysis technique would be a more deductive approach to content analysis. In that case, you work out your coding system prior to analysis, and then systematically apply it to the data.
Note, however, that content analysis does not have to be exclusively inductive or deductive. As an alternative, Fereday and Muir-Cochrane (2006) describe a "hybrid" version of content analysis, where you begin with a deductively determined coding system, but also allow the addition of inductively discovered codes.
