I had a VerilogHDL code for 4-tap digital FIR filter and its synthesized through Xilinx and Altera tool. On my synthesis report , I can see only the frequency rating further I would like to see the frequency response of the same filter. So kindly suggest some methods/techniques to see the frequency response.

Hi,
it is perfectly normal that the syhtesis tools shows only the report about the "digital" characteristics of the circuit that you have descripted through HDL language. The tool doesn't know what the circuit has to do and it is not the purpose of the synthesizer. You could draw the frequency response of the filter starting from the coefficient of the taps in Matlab or Octave environement for example. I recommend to check that the digital data has the expected sampling rate on the path of the FIR filter in the FPGA.

You can incorporate your Verilog code in Matlab Simulink (Both for Xilinx and Altera) - I do not know the Altera-Intel Matlab tool, but for Xilinx you can use System Generator and of course you can then simulate and analyse in Matlab, and also if you have the hardware you can use hardware co simulation.
I suppose you simulated the Verilog code in both of tools. You can visualize as far as I know the result in analogue way (I do not know exactly how) :(
Synthesis tools will not be able to provide you a frequency response. You may have to use a simulation tool to do this. Even that may be quite time consuming. Usually frequency response is something you will study before synthesis. Do you expect a major deviation in the frequency response post-synthesis?
