Background: Do you have found specimens (larvae) of Arctiidae, especially Eilema or Lithosia quadra, usually feeding on lichens, and shifting to predatory behavior ??

I will have a look at these specimens. In my area there are lots of Eilema depressa (and other E. spec.) and also Lithosia quadra.
Is this behaviour especially expectable in the canopies of pinus and not elsewhere? What do they feed from?

Hello,
we are preparing a short note on this special issue, maybe for "AfZ der Wald". L. quadra is very rare here, as emissions from brown coal mining have drastically reduced lichens. L. quadra was not found for years.
