We anesthetize the mice with pentobarbital sodium (50ul/25 mg), then we collect cerebrospinal fluid, and after bleed them we isolate the brain to study protein expression by western blot and and measure glutathione by spectrophotometry. We know that pentobarbital does not influence with hepatic parameters, but we wonder if it can influence on any of the brain aspects commented above.

Well, pentobarbital does affect brain, particularly by enhancing gaba inhibition.
Otherwise mice would not get asleep !
Regarding gluthatione I've got any clues. However since gluthatione may plays an indirect role in synaptic transmission, especially because glutamate and cysteine uptake by neuronal transporters would lead to guthatione synthesis.
Why not compare anesthetized and rapidly decapitated mice?
