Has anyone reported on carbon storage potential in common trees and shrubs in prairie forests?

I am looking for carbon storage potential ie carbon biomass for a number of native trees and shrubs within the Canadian prairies (Ie Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba). I am having difficulty finding good information, particularly for shrub species.

Does anyone have any good leads for local literature on the subject?

Also, in your own opinions, when reporting on carbon storage potential, what option would be most beneficial? A per unit carbon storage, or a stand storage potential?

Currently I am assessing above ground biomass, which I know some people do not agree with as trees can be harvested, burnt etc etc. However this is a project deliverable required by funders, hence my search.
